I'm curious about how those of you who are maintaining pumper blog (High PR) networks are handling the task of building lots of links into those domains. About a year ago, the conventional wisdom was to maximize link juice by directing tons of spammy links into those domains (which were already aged and high PR, so in theory could take 'em), thereby redirecting the link juice to your money sites.

Lately, I've heard some people say they don't build ANY links to their High PR pumper blogs, reasoning that they've already got a good link profile, so why mess with it?

I'd love to hear recommendations on whether or not to build lots of backlinks to these sites in the current climate.

I have some very high PR domains that I built NO backlinks to and they have kept all the PR. But, some have dropped. I'm changing my strategy and putting more time into the network now. Hope that might help. I guess it's a cost/benefit/risk thing.

I think You should build cheap backlinks to Your sitenetwork.

    For example:
You discovered a method how to get squidoo dofollow backlinks. Now You train Your VA or build a bot and give every one of your moneysites 10 squidoo backlinks. Additional squidoo backlinks wouldn´t bring that much because You already have 10 from the same domain. Now You can use these backlinks for feeding your satellitesites and they are feeding your moneysites. After a certain number your moneysite gets more benefit if You send the linkjuice to Your satellitesite and not directly. Also let´s say the backlinks are damn cheap because You can produce them in mass and You can specialise yourself.

I asked a similar questions in this tread.. Initial Effort wrote that i shouldn´t use other high PR sites for maintaining my sites in General (perhaps he knows exceptions?).

I also think that only PR1+ backlinks help to maintain Your PR. Senuke and Co builds only pages without PR. I have the experience they help in ranking because of the Anchortext but i can´t imagine they bring you benefit in terms of maintaining your PR or building more linkjuice.
